Sharing Our Celebrations

We’ve been celebrating at McNeill Nakamoto recently. Our company is receiving an award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals for Outstanding Small Business.

One of our thoughtful staff members thought it would be a fun idea to surprise one of our company founders with some festive decorations at our weekly staff meeting. What fun for all staff to enter the boardroom on a Monday morning and be greeted by balloons flowing across the long table.

After the meeting, we thought…what do we do with all these balloons? Remove them, and put in our private offices, away from our visitors? Pop all the balloons? (so sad!) or share the FUN?

We chose to share the fun.

Throughout the week, we were repeatedly asked by candidates and clients about the festive balloons that were spilling over the table, and onto chairs. Our visitors seemed to like being included in our “behind the scenes”.  We like having an extended McNak family.

True to our culture here at McNak, we’re professional, but we also like to add FUN. This is what McNak is known for. We’re a different company to work with and work for in a fast-paced and competitive industry. We make time to celebrate PEOPLE, and enjoy work, which in turn, translates to WOW experiences for candidates and clients.

It’s the McNak way.

Average or Great?

Do you want your business to be average or great?

Of course you strive for your company’s success. You want your business to be great. Your company won’t succeed if it is just average. What happens if you hire average employees? You get average results, an uninspiring culture, and an average company.

Be your best and hire the best.

Hiring great employees will fuel your corporate culture with positive results, and ultimately affect the bottom line. Think about this for your next hire. Invest in the greatest people for your company.

What are their core values in life? What keeps them engaged at work? As we get to know this youngest generation of workers, here’s a video interview with Simon Sinek below that sheds some light how millenials are perceived in the workplace, how they conduct their lives, and what corporations need to do to shape workplaces for the future.

Do Job Perks Make Employees Happier?

More and more workplaces are offering incentives to attract and retain top talent. Ping pong table, anyone? When entertaining a job offer, salary is the first thing that comes to mind, but definitely don’t overlook benefits beyond the norm. Flexible hours, staff outings, subsidized health club memberships are just a few perks that small companies can offer their employees. Such incentives can make employees happier and more productive.  The infographic below illustrates what several large corporations offer their employees. Perhaps your workplace can find some inspiration from this list.
